Regional Economic Investment Strategy (REIS)
The Torres Strait Regional Economic Investment Strategy represents a new approach for the Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) to help facilitate commercially viable business opportunities in the region.
The REIS includes the TSRA's existing suite of business support products and services to help establish or grow existing businesses, as well as a range of new packages for identified industries.
The REIS builds on the Australian Government's Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS). Through the IAS the Australian Government is working to improve the way it does business with Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal People to ensure funding offered by the Department of The Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) actually achieves outcomes. Current activities include community led grants, tailored assistance employment grants, NAIDOC week funding, PBC capacity building funding and Indigenous enterprise development funding.
