TSRA Board elections for 2020 postponed

TSRA and Australian Government logo

Due to the disruptions caused by COVID-19 and health and safety concerns for communities, the Minister for Indigenous Australians, the Hon. Ken Wyatt AM MP, has postponed the election for the TSRA Board in 2020.

This will ensure the safety of the Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal people living in the region.

The current Board will continue to hold office until the next election under the Torres Strait Regional Authority (Postponement of Election) Instrument 2020.

The Minister has requested that the election be conducted as soon as it is possible and safe to do so. The TSRA Administration, Australian Electoral Commission and the National Indigenous Australians Agency will continue to work towards an alternative date for the election.

The TSRA will announce when a new Board election date is set.
