The Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) is calling for applications from Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal organisations or individuals for grant funding for a range of initiatives.

TSRA Chairperson, Mr Napau Pedro Stephen AM, said funding will be provided through six TSRA programme areas under its flagship funding program, the Common Funding Round.

“The TSRA’s Common Funding Round provides opportunities for eligible organisations to access funding for targeted projects and initiatives which benefit the Torres Strait region and its people,” Mr Stephen said.

“Previously we have funded proposals such as healthy eating and cooking classes, offender’s support programs, cultural maintenance projects, artists and musicians and many others.

“The TSRA recognises the significance of community-driven initiatives in promoting community wellbeing, safeguarding culture and building capacity and I encourage people to apply.”

Applications are open until 4pm on Tuesday 9 April and can be submitted under Culture, Arts and Heritage; Fisheries; Native Title, Healthy Communities; Safe Communities, and Governance and Leadership.

Grant Application forms and Programme Guidelines specific to each programme are available through the TSRA website.

Application kits and further information can also be obtained by contacting the TSRA on (07) 4069 0700.
