The Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) was pleased to welcome the newly elected Board Members to their Board Induction held between 2 – 5 February 2021 on Thursday Island.

The comprehensive program was delivered over four days by Magical Learning. It was the first time Board Members have come together as the new TSRA leadership.

The Board Induction was designed to prepare Board Members for their four-year term. Topics covered included: good governance, legislation, risk, Board function and processes. Induction also allowed Board Members to develop a clear understanding of their role and responsibilities.

While it was a busy schedule, Board Members found the sessions to be highly valuable, and of particular benefit to the eleven new Members joining the TSRA Board for the first time. Going forward, the induction program has provided Board Members with the information and support needed to be fully engaged and productive participants on the Board.

Members now look forward to the inaugural meeting of the TSRA Board, which will see the election of Officeholder positions, on 16 February 2021. This will be followed by a general business Board Meeting 17 – 19 February 2021.
