Diving into business

Over the past two years, more than 130 participants have completed TSRA’s You Sabe Business workshops to explore ideas, strategies and insights to start or grow their business.

Participants also heard from inspiring business owners about their journey, challenges and success.

Torres Strait Islander crayfisherman and carpenter Faafetai Nona was among last year’s graduates.

It was a new experience for the 32-year-old, who is usually on the boat or working in construction.

Mr Nona said the You Sabe Business workshops helped build skills and self-assurance needed in the modern business world.

“It’s that small nudge of confidence that we need as small Indigenous business owners, we are natural traders from our forefathers, but this workshop helps streamline our business plan to today’s economic environment,” he said.

“The workshop was very helpful for my small business and recommend other men from our region to participate.”

Applications for TSRA’s free You Sabe Business workshops close 5pm Friday 17 January 2025.
