The Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) is offering a specific COVID-19 related community initiatives grant round for community organisations in the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area region.
The Community Response Initiative is for funding to sustain operations that are essential to the community or to provide additional community support initiatives during and after the pandemic.
TSRA Chairperson, Mr Napau Pedro Stephen, said due to the Queensland Government’s declaration of a State level Disaster Situation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first TSRA Common Funding Round for 2020 had to be refocused.
“The many challenges due to the influence of COVID-19 have meant we have had to change the way we deliver some of our programmes and initiatives, and this is just one example of the TSRA being proactive to the situation,” Mr Stephen said.
“The TSRA COVID-19 Community Response Initiative has been developed to support organisations to apply for funding to adjust the delivery of their current activities, or for new activities that will support the community during and after the pandemic.
“These include reducing the spread of COVID-19 in the region, supporting communities to expand essential services and infrastructure during the pandemic, and supporting communities as they recover from it.”
Applications for the COVID-19 related community initiatives round are now open and will close at 5pm on Monday, 1 June 2020.
More information can be found on the website or by contacting TSRA on 4069 0700 or info@tsra.gov.au
Please note this funding is only open to organisations in the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area.
