The Torres Strait Regional Authority’s (TSRA) Lillian Jane Shibasaki graduated from the 2018 Australian Rural Leadership Program (ARLP) in a ceremony held in Canberra on Thursday 18 October 2018.
Ms Shibasaki, who is a Senior Curriculum Teacher for Tagai State College TAFE Campus on Thursday Island, is the ninth TSRA sponsored participant to graduate in the program. Her leadership pathway started from Strait Talk to the Torres Strait Women’s Leadership Program, which inspired her to continue on to the Australian Rural Leadership Program (ARLP).
The TSRA Chairperson, Mr Napau Pedro Stephen AM, reaffirmed the importance of the TSRA’s partnership with the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation’s Program, which aims to develop informed, capable and ethical leaders who are committed to working together to progress the interests of regional Australia.
“Lily Jane embarked on the 15 -months program in August 2018 with a group of 30 leaders from a diverse range of industry organisations, who were successful in the national selection process,” Mr Stephen said.
“I congratulate Lily Jane and her fellow cohorts in achieving success in their studies and look forward to witnessing their continued leadership journey.
“The TSRA selection process for the ARLP is highly competitive and candidates selected are based on their motivation, inspiration and leadership experiences.
“I encourage anyone interested in leadership within their community or the region to connect with us and find out more about the program.”
