How to apply for jobs in the TSRA

Applicants are encouraged to view the guidance material on how to apply for jobs in the Australian Public Service (which includes the TSRA) as provided by the Australian Public Service Commission at the following link: Cracking the Code: How to Apply for Jobs in the Public Service.

Submitting applications by e-mail

The TSRA offers and encourages electronic submission of applications as an alternative to paper-based submission. The email address to use when submitting your application, or to ask a question about a vacancy is Human Resources.

It is the responsibility of the sender to ensure that the document can be read by the TSRA. If you are unsure of whether a document can be read by the TSRA you should contact the relevant officer.

The following document formats are currently acceptable:

  1. Microsoft Word
  2. Adobe Acrobat

Any submitted application sent by email to the TSRA should clearly address the selection criteria and have your appropriate contact details, including contact telephone number and postal address, included in the email.

You should note however, that there are risks associated with using the Internet as a transmission medium in that when you send information over the Internet, it may be possible for others to see what you are sending. If this is a concern to you, then you should use other methods of communication with the TSRA.

TSRA Traineeships

The TSRA often offers Administration (full-time) and School-based (part-time) traineeships to people living in the Torres Strait. Traineeships aim to provide participants with work experience in different sections of the TSRA as well as build confidence and develop administration skills. There may also be an opportunity at the completion of the traineeship for a career in the Australian Public Service. Upon successful completion of the traineeship, trainees will receive either a Certificate II or III in Business.
