Community Economic Initiatives Scheme
Through the Community Economic Initiatives Scheme (CEIS), the Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) provides grants to Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal organisations within the region for the establishment and/or expansion of commercial income generating ventures. These ventures can be linked to the Community Development Employment Program (CDEP). CEIS business enterprises can include the areas of:
CEIS Objective: To contribute directly to the economic growth of communities and organisations by enabling the development of income generating projects with social, cultural and economic benefits.
What can the CEIS offer my organisation?
Is my organisation eligible to apply for the CEIS?
The organisation must be based within the Torres Strait region and be an Indigenous incorporated body. The enterprise should also operate within the region.
What is the Application Process?
Applications can be forwarded at anytime to the TSRA and must be accompanied by a 5-year business plan and cash flow projection showing the enterprise breaking even after a maximum of 5 years. The process is as follows:
