TSRA announces Governance Review For Immediate Release 14 June 2011
The Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) has commissioned an independent review of its Board structure over the next three months. TSRA Chairperson, Mr Toshie Kris said the review, to be conducted by consultants Effective Governance Pty Ltd, will ensure that the TSRA continues to have the best possible model of representation for the people of the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area. The TSRA Board consists of 20 elected Members who represent Torres Strait Islander communities in the region. “With the next TSRA Board elections due in March 2012, it is timely for the review to occur over the coming months,” Mr Kris said. “The review will look closely at the TSRA Board, its structure, the number of members and how the Board is appointed.” “The review will also seek feedback from many organisations and importantly, community members throughout the Torres Strait region.” Independent consultants from Effective Governance will be visiting all communities in the Torres Strait to talk about the TSRA Board.
