The Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) has announced a second round of funding across a wide range of initiatives for Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal organisations and individuals.

The TSRA has confirmed that applications are now open to support activities taking place between 1 January and 30 June 2020 and can be submitted for initiatives that align with the TSRA’s programme areas of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Native Title, Healthy Communities, Safe Communities, plus Governance and Leadership.

TSRA Chairperson, Mr Napau Pedro Stephen AM, said the additional grant funding will be provided through TSRA programme areas under its flagship funding program, the Common Funding Round.

“The TSRA’s Common Funding Round provides opportunities for eligible organisations and individuals to access funding for targeted projects and initiatives which will benefit the Torres Strait region and its people,” Mr Stephen said.

“The TSRA recognises the significance of community-driven initiatives to promote wellbeing, safeguard our culture, build capacity and economic wealth in our region and I encourage interested people to apply.

“The grant funding has previously supported proposals for artists and musicians, healthy eating and cooking classes, offender support programs, cultural maintenance projects, and many more.

Applications are open until 4pm on Tuesday 8 October 2019.

Grant Application forms and Programme Guidelines specific to each programme are available through the TSRA website at – tsra.gov.au
